Unreasonable Institute
Of the 300 entrepreneurs from 60 countries who applied to 2011 Unreasonable Institute, 50 finalists were chosen to be showcased on the Unreasonable Marketplace. Although the cost of attending the Unreasonable Institute is $8,000, entrepreneurs are not allowed to pay. Instead, they are challenged to raise that $8,000 on the Finalist Marketplace. The first 25 Finalists to do so are deemed Unreasonable Fellows and will attend the 2011 Institute.
In addition to become invested in the success of the 25 Unreasonable Fellows even before they attend the Institute, the Marketplace provides the finalists the chance to demonstrate their entrepreneurial mettle, by challenging them to mobilize the support of hundreds of people around the world. Their reward? Working with 60-world class mentors, forming relationships with 30 impact investment funds, learning from consulting organizations like IDEO, pitching to hundreds of investors, and getting 6-weeks of food and lodging without having to pay a dime.
